Somebody recently sent me this video. Latelle Barton is apparently Little Walter's cousin, or second cousin. The sound is uncanny:
I'd love to know more about Barton.
Here's a second video:
These vids were shot in 1993 at the Portland Waterfront Blues Festival.

He's good ---------- Wisdom does not always come with old age. Sometimes old age arrives alone.

THere is an individual named Latelle j. Barton, jr. Living in Los Angeles. Relatives include Richard and Beatrice. Looks like this individual might be from Louisiana originally based upon search of name which is consistent with excerpt from blues with a feeling. The individual is about 70.

I gave a harmonica workshop in Marksville, La, home of Little Walter Jacobs. It was supposed to be the Little Walter Festival, but the family wanted us to just call it a Tribute to Little Walter. This was in conjuncton with a concert put on by Johnny Sansone. One of the people I taught to blow a little harp was Little Walters Cousin. What a feeling.
At the concert, I was talking to a well dressed older gentleman that said he lived in California, and that he grew up with Little Walter. He told me that Little Walter had another cousin that lived in California that was a harp player and that he sounded and played just like little walter. That must have been Latelle Barton. ----------

Kudzurunner - Yes he can play, yes he can sing, yes he sounds good. Surely though Adam all the remarks about imitating you have made about Bharath Rajakumar apply to Latelle Barton too? Surely this guy is just a mimic and not walking his own path? Or is that ok bacause he's in some way supposedly related to Little Walter? Surely the same rules that you apply to all other players apply to this Latelle Barton as well? Surely your quote below about Bharath applies to Latelle as well?
"You probably know what I think, but I'll say it anyway: I think he's gone precisely 50% of the way, and brilliantly, towards blues harmonica mastery. I also think he's chosen to stop there. I think that if he doesn't go any farther--which is to say, if he doesn't exorcise Little Walter's ghost rather than allowing it to entirely possess him--he is fated to be forgotten. There are worse things than to be a brilliant imitator. He is indeed a brilliant Little Walter imitator. He just might be the best. He's certainly one of the best. But I don't--yet--have any idea what sort of creative musician he is."
