Sad news from the top. HCH IV will NOT be held. I need to go to my therapist and get some medicine.....Was planning the trip already.....I guess I need to learn NOT to put all my eggs in one basket. ----------

I'm sad, but it has to be a real pain in the ass to pull off the event. If the energy isn't there, no need to pull off a half assed event - especially when the other three were so awesome! The bar is pretty darned high.
I will miss seeing everyone, including the Hollowells (maybe even especially).
I wanted to see Deak's shop in Clarksdale too.

I'm gonna miss it. I was really looking forward to it and started clearing my schedule. I need my Mississippi harmonica fix.
Hope to see it again in the future.

I think I have come up with a "Mississippi Fix". Thought of going to the other "learning experience" during that same time period, in Clarksdale. But at $995 plus hotel...it's not in the budget. So an extended stay in Clarksdale during the Juke Joint Fest is where I'm headed. I am determined not to miss Mississppi for another year. I talked to Deak and he may be willing to have some type of class at the shop during the festival. Blues Trail - Ground Zero - Red's - Riverside Hotel - Deaks Mississippi Saxophone and Blues Emporium.....I am bound to have a great time. now just gotta find some lightning in a bottle LOL. ----------

Edited to reflect that I went to the website and now know the reason. Too bad... but I know it is a huge event to pull off.

scojo- From Adam-
Oct 03, 2013 4:12 AM I'm sorry to say that after much soul-searching, Jeff Silverman and I have decided not to hold Hill Country Harmonica in 2014. It's hard to explain such decisions, but there's nothing mysterious here. It came down to motivation: both of us, it turned out, were simply uninspired, unexcited, by the prospect of the nine months of hard work that it takes to put on the event. Our dream-energies just weren't there--at least this time around. And those energies are are the heart of the whole enterprise. Without them, we were left high and dry.
I honestly don't know if we'll hold the event in 2015, but we are NOT folding our tents for good at this point. We're just being honest about where we are at this particular moment.
The HCH website will be maintained. The YouTube videos and photo sets testifying to the good times we all had up at the blues barn will remain. When and if we want to kick back into gear, you may be sure we'll let y'all know.
Sorry, guys.
