For some reason, over the past few days, fourth position has finally clicked for me. I'm running up and down the scale and plinking out little basic melodies like Summertime.

I was wondering what recordings are out there in 4th? I just bought Charlie Musselwhite's version of "Azul Para Amparo" from his Harmonica According To CD. Pretty cool. Anything else you'd suggest?

Or, any classic recording's where jamming along in 4th is a good fit?

Thanks in advance, guys.

I did some 4th stuff on my solo recordings, its more folk than blues but whatever, the third harp part on this song is in 4th...

Summertime can be easily played in 4 position.

If you are looking for simple and recognisable then 'The river' is a good fit.

Cherry Pink and Apple Blossom White is in A major, not C. Kim Wilson plays it in first position.

time is correct...don't consider the relative minor when thinking 4th position. It just confuses things. Very easy to play minor in 3rd and 5th positions as well. You can play minor or major in any position if you play with one of the various means of chromacicity.

A lot of people prefer the song Afro Blue is 4th position.

Correct it's in "A" -I play the tune, it's a really feel good fun song...I was thinking positions when I wrote that - I'll change it to reflect what I meant :)

What I wanted to point out - Is that if you like 4th you'll probably enjoy messing with 1st pos too...
