I'm in New Orleans on and off for the next month. I already know about the Wednesday jam at the Recovery Room on Jefferson highway; are there any other harmonica events I should know about?

If you're there Oct. 18 Friday, Cotton is the headliner at the Crescent City Blues Fest.I'll be there. Look for the old guy accompanied by 3 women. :>)

1847 do you live in New Orleans?. If so, get in touch with me.
As some of you know, I live in New Orlens, and there is a lot of stuff Harmonicawise going on here all the time.
This Wednesday is supposed to be the monthly meeting of the Crescent City Harmonica Club, at the Recovery Room, but There is a second Line and Jam starting at WWOZ and ending at Cafe Negril, to Benefit Ready Teddy of Little Richard fame,so I am trying to rally my troops to attend this instead of the meeting. I have been out of town until today, so I am a little behind.
On Sept 28th, we are giving a Harmonica Workshop at the Bogalusa Blues Festival, supposedly for children. There is a charge to get into the festival, and on October 5th, we are giving one for anyone at Blues In Da Parish in near new Orleans. It is a free festival. We can always use some help and support.
Monday Nights is always good, with Smoky Greenwell's Jam at BMC, and Gene's Super Jam at Maison, who has Yuko Kido playing Harmonica.
There is more, so maybe I will poset more when I catch up. I have some gigs, but honestly, I do not know where they are right now.

@Harvey: thanks for the info. Are the jams at BMC open or invitational?

Thats is hard to answer. Let me know when you are coming, and I will go and get you up. I do not go most of the time because once in a while I need to sleep, but I do when harp players come to town. Smoky has two Harp Kings, a 4x and a 6x, and they always sound great.
Now the Jam at the Recovery Room on Wednesday is open, but a little louder. Oscar who runs it started bringing a shitty sounding Blues Jr, which, thank God, finally broke and he started bringing his Bassman, which sounds great. I am normally there, because that is where I met almost everyone that I know in New Orleans, and they have a Steak Special for 10.95 which is pretty yummy. Also, we have our Harmonica Club meeting there the 4th Wednesday of each month

I didn't pack a mic, so I'd probably just want to play through the PA (if there's a spare vocal mic).
I meant to ask about the Maison jam, too. What's it like?

--You do not need a mic. There is always on there at all the jams. Smoky used to use a shure 545 with a volume control. Now he uses a EV631 with a magnetic on/off switch. The Maison Jam is a hoot. It is not necessarily Blues, and there are a lot of Horn Players there. The house Harmonica Player is an little Oriental girl named Yuko who is pretty entertaining, but she is a little possessive, sometimes. Here is a video of her at the Recovery Room.

Here is Todd Greene's response to this song a little later in the night. Do you remember Todd. He is in Korea right now.
