I would love to get a good crystal mic. I want a rivet tag shell. In TN where I was at crystal mics are just a death sentence but out here in CA you can actually use them. If anyone has a strong one for sale let me know.

$350 sounds a bit steep. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Astatic-JT30-w-M101-Crystal-Harp-Mic-Harmonica-Microphone-WITH-STAND-/171126158094?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item27d7e9f30e

Thanks its just what I want but that's just to much for me to spend on any mic. Thanks though.

@MJ-that mic is not a rivet tag-and the seller has a 176 seller record-tells me he has not sold a lot of mics-it's also from a guitar shop ,so "Tested and working beautifully" does not hold a lot of merit. My mic was built and owned by Dennis Gruenling-you know it works and sounds great-.

MJ - $350 is about the going rate for a JT30 with an Astatic crystal in it nowadays. So Tom is charging a fair price for it. You'd have to be very lucky indeed to find a good Astatic crystal bullet mic for less than that.

It may be fair but it is still steep.

@MJ-find me one that is "less steep"-a 1950 rivet-tag JT-30 in excellent working condition with a strong 101 crystal-with the correct amphenol connector and ready to play-setup and worked on by a pro harp player.

MJ - Well the reality is that these elements are going to get more and more expensive as time goes on. I can remember in the 1990's before Astatic stopped making the MC151 that people would just give them away. Obviously that ain't gonna happen anymore. Only a few years ago you could buy an Astatic MC151 or a Shure Black CR element for about $50. Now they sell in the region of $200 and upwards just for the element. It's simple economics and is all down to supply and demand. Also due to the fact that crystals die they are in even shorter supply than the CR elements. So the price will just get higher and higher.

Kingley, just like gas eh? I totally understand the reason behind the high price, but I still maintain it is too much.

Tom's prices seem fair. There's nothing like a good mic to top off your tone.

tmf714,Thanks but no thanks. I am not in the market for a mic. I have all I need. I was merely commenting on the high prices of mics. It is not too much unlike the housing bubble.

@MJ-no need to tell me about the housing bubble-I am a licensed RE agent-What I was trying to say politely was if you have a any more negative comments about my prices,e-mail me offlist please-MY price is not open for discussion-its between myself and Bigtone-you have already stated you are not interested,so lets just leave it at that.

tmf714, I was not commenting on you. I merely stated my opinion on something in general. If you do not agree, fine. Not agreeing with you is not leaving a negative statement.

It is when you use a link to a piece of junk mic in comparison to mine-look,I am trying very hard to be polite-drop it-you are in the minority as far as my pricing goes-

Not starting a fight-your comments are indirectly pointed towards me-
"Kingley, just like gas eh? I totally understand the reason behind the high price, but I still maintain it is too much. "
"$350 sounds a bit steep"
"It may be fair but it is still steep. "
Bigtone was asking for a rivet label JT30-you post a link to a non rivet label JT30 with no pics of the element from a guitar shop. Bigtone is not asking YOUR opinion on MY pricing. Dude-stop-let it go.

You guys rock man. After checking I had not realized the prices on these went that high so sorry for my first comment. Watching crs go so low and other mics I figured they were round the same $200 mark as I remember them being. As many of you know I play gigs so the condition means nothing. I just want a rivet tag with the crystal. Please email me pics bigtone1@yahoo.com. I'd love to try and work something on one.everyone on the forum has been real cool to me and I thank you all for that.
