So the band I'm playing with is playing the Ray Condo version of I Can't Believe You're In Love Me and I am poking around in an F harp to get through it. I need some suggestions. Should I play on a chromatic? Thanks for the help.

Hi Charles,

If you're ok with the low hole bends then a Bb harp in second position works nicely:-

-2-3**-3-3, -3/-3**-2 -3**-3-3 etc., or high register +6-6-7-7, -7-6+6 -6-7-7 etc., From the part I listened to the upper register goes on to include an overblow though.

Have fun.

I think you should take chromatic harmonica to make your solo sound more jazzy as supposed to be in the theme. In diatonic 2-nd position you will sound too bluesy and miss notes from chromatic scale which should be there and which you need to make your solo more air and free.

Thanks so much for the help.
@dmiteysbor - what key chromatic do I need for this tune? I have a G but it doesn't sound right.

On a G chromatic you would be in 11th position playing with a root note of F (Circle of 5ths: F, C, G).

If you hold the button in it and use the G#/Ab reeds it is sort of like 4th (Circle of 5ths: Ab, Eb, Bb, F), but the notes go flat a half step when you let the button out, so it isn't really like 4th if you use the button...

Chromatic in key of Bb should work easy for F key.
It's simple 2-nd position. Others key would sound too high, but Bb it's like golden mean: not too high and not too low for smooth play.

Say like this from Hohner:

Songs in F often lay out nicely on a C chromatic.
