I just got my red howler and gotta say I am tickled with it so far. Just have like 5 minutes into it ;) Very responsive with all notes coming through at the same volume for one, The tone is way cool and this is coming from a guy that has old crystal astatics, old green bullit, and just too many mics to list. The howler feels good in my hands, volume knob is smooth . Plenty of mojo tone that they advertised. I also just last week got a hohner/astatic crystal mic and it also is a great mic which sounds almost identical to my original astatic, but a bit brighter. I first tried the howler through my VOX DA10 , sounded great through that, then through my 1959 Gibson Maestro and tore the walls down .;) I am very impressed with what is going on in the mic world for us harp players. Bottom line as others have noted at times, a harp players true tone comes from within and no amount of amps mics, effects etc will truly give one a mojo tone unless again, it comes from within , Blues Is truth PS, I have been playing and gigging for over 40 years

I recently repaired a nearly new Red Howler for a friend. The pot was tiny and nonfunctional. One bezzle screw was striped, factory defect. Thansformer leads were very fragile. Mic has a bar clamp securing the hard wired cord. This clamp placement prevented me from puting in a full size pot. I used a long shaft 1M metric mini pot. It does feel good in the hand and had a nice built in gasket. No apearent markings on the element which I did not remove. Mic is smoother and warmer than my favorite CM. Not really a grinder. I feel this mic has potential but will need work to make it dependable...BN
