Pianist Marian McParltand died today of natural causes at 95 years old.

Had a show called Piano Jazz on NPR.

I got to work with her tuning her piano at jazz convention. Very classy lady.

Bummer. I love that program, Piano Jazz. One of the best programs on NPR. Of course Car Talk is my all time fave. Rest in peace Ms. McPartland.

She was a deep musician who could draw the depths out of her guests - and sometimes have a lot of fun jamming with them. A fascinating program; I'll miss her.

RIP.
Marian was just incredible.
What a musical history...wow.
Her NPR show was priceless. Many of those sessions were released on cd but many, many more were not. Some of my fav. piano jazz appearances are: Willie Nelson, Les Paul and Tony Bennett.
Piano jazz was to me a great way to hear real musical legends raw, and sometimes playing outside their usual 'bag' of tricks...

Listening to the way she embraced the other musicians that appeared on her show you couldn’t help but love her. Rare is someone who can look past the superficial and truly see and hear person’s true worth. She showcased respect as much as she showcased the music.
