Wow, a bunch of the old heroes, and a bunch of new ones. Think you can play? there is somebody there (if not most people there) that are better than you. The good thing is they are willing to share. All the latest new harps and you can try them all. Deak Harp, giving tips on a break to the smokers outside, Shellist, Brandon (both), Filisko, Baker, Madcat etc. etc.....

John Sebastian said he was on his cell with his wife and she asked how it was, he said he checked in and the lobby bar for the jazz jam had half the players were better than him. Gave a shout out to Jimi Lee.

All kinds of music. Ongoing old time, jazz and blues jams. Walked out after the Sebastian and Raines show and Gruenling and Sleigh were ripping up on Jambalaya.. Shoot, don't think Dennis was even on the program, just swung in between gigs.

The fantastic thing is hearing how harmonica works into all types of music. Klezmer, oldies, jazz, turkish, reggae, combo's, blues, folk. There are some chromatic players of all ages that will blow your socks off in any genre.

Winslow and the SPAH crew really got it right this time, not sure how they can top it next year. hope somebody will post some vids...

Yup, got to meet Walter and many more, old newbies and teenagers who rip it up--
Got to play guitar onstage in the Ballroom with Brendan Power, Mike Caldwell, Madcat and George Miklas, and provide guitar for Joe Filisko at a seminar on Fourkey tuning, where he ably demonstrated the tuning on a minor blues a la "Help Me".
Off to the awards banquet, all packed up and ready to fly out tomorrow . . .

So bummed I missed it. But I know what its like. Amazing players in every style you've ever heard, and some you haven't.

I had an excellent first time at SPAH this year as well. Met loads of awesome people, jammed quite a few times, and had a lot of fun. I'll have videos up pretty soon, but for now, here's some pics.

In order of left to right, Got to spend some quailty time with Peter "Madcat" Ruth, meeting Dennis Gruenling, and me playing during the Youth Showcase on Wednesday.

In order of left to right, Joe Filisko and Eric Noden, Charlie McCoy, and Madcat performing on Friday.
