I had the pleasure many years ago to play for John McLaughlin and his band of Indian master musicians Shakti backstage after one of their concerts, at McLaughlin's request. To my amazement, McLaughlin and his bandmates seemed to enjoy my playing quite a bit, with the guitarist asking for my phone number in case he knew anyone who needed a harmonica player. I remember that he wrote it down on a wrapper for Ernie Ball guitar strings. I never got a phone call, but so what. John McLaughlin Liked My Playing!
