(Bit of an offspring from Grey Owl´s amplification tone thread, and my own laments a while back with recording.)

I´ve been trying to get a hold of a decent harmonica tone using the Line 6 Pod. It´s called GX and has been around quite a few years; just for recording unless you want to bring a computer to the stage.

There is a preset called "warm vocal" and I´ve found that to be a good starting point: a warm, just slightly distorted sound. Pretty close to what you hear in the clip below.

The problem is that when I approach the sound that I like (I add some Bass boost to the preset) EVERYTHING I do with the harmonica goes right into the recording: breath, small movements and whatever there are as micro sounds in the immediate environment.

I need to get that muddied up -- but don´t know how? If I step down on the bass it´s better, but then it´s not the sound that I want ...
