Can anyone explain what valve trimming is ? I've heard of Brendan powers doing this.

And is that what the PT gazell valve set-up is (when they come with the little bit of unvalved slot) ??

I'm with SoulHarp.

I think he means trimming the very tip off of the valve so that a very small bit of the reed slot is not covered by the valve. I know PT does that.

I asked Rupert, he says the reason for trimming is to alleviate valves sticking. He says they still do their job, which means that the bends are valved bends.
