The Harmonica Club will hold the
Seventh West Virginia State Harmonica Championship.
Saturday August 25th 2012
and the
Second Harmonica Quadrathlon
part of The 4th Diamond Teeth Mary Blues Festival, Huntington,WV

1st place: Seydel 1847
2nd place: Seydel 20 Harmonica Case
3rd place: Seydel Big Six
Quadrathlon: Seydel Summer Session Steel
Our goal is not to find the best harmonica player, but to meet and share with as many harmonica players as possible. Naming and rewarding the best players is just a bonus to the event. We want players of ALL AGES, ALL STYLES, ALL STATES, AND ALL TALENT LEVELS to come and perform. For the championship, you have 5 minutes to play 2 tunes of your choice. You may be accompanied by one acoustic instrument. No entry fee.

11th street and Veteran's Memorial Blvd Huntington, WV
11:00am: Bob McGraw harmonica workshop on playing blues in the first position
Noon to 2:00pm: the 7th WV State Harmonica Championship followed by the 2nd Harmonica Quadrathlon (no entry fees)
the DIAMOND TEETH MARY AFTER JAM starts at 11pm at the Gazebo

Rules for the Harmonica Quadrathlon
overview:
Up to 5 people will get to take turns playing a solo during 4 songs. The songs will be played and sung by The Harmonica Club of Huntington. The solos will be one verse long. Each song will feature all the players, each playing one solo. After all for songs have been performed, the judges will choose one Grand Champion.
The players will be selected from the players in the WV State Championship. The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners get the first privilege to be part of the Quadrathlon. The judges may select other players from the competition, up to 5 total.
The 4 songs for the Qudrathlon are:
Traditional tune: I'll Fly Away
Minor scale Tune: Black Magic Woman
Major Scale Tune: Silver Wings
Blues Tune: Sweet Home Chicago
