"Amateur" is a French word meaning "lover of". As far as the harp and harp music goes, that's what I am.

I am not a natural musician. My interest in the harp came quite by accident when I was a young man. It's a long story and I won't bore you with it, but I am 61 years old now and my love for that 10 holed diatonic devil will not leave me. Sometimes, late at night, I'm sure I sold my soul at the crossroads, but the devil cheated me. He has my soul, but I still can't play like I'd love to after all these years. What saves me though, is I know what I am. I'm an Amateur.

I have no interest in the limelight, being on stage, making a record, etc. Being a private soul, my personal joy comes from playing along with the masters, be they Little Walter, Magic Dick, James Cotton, Sonny Boy or whomever. My goal these days is not to mimic them note-for-note, but rather to try and put my own twist on it. If I can do that and it sounds good to me, I have succeeded.

I'm a blue collar working man, as well as a cartoonist, craftsman and a pretty good cook. But I have it in my last will and testament, ...when I die...bury me with my harps, please.

Would you like to be buried in a giant harp box? The Hohner special 20 box would make a nice casket but the Suzuki ProMaster box would be just beautiful.

I can't afford the harp boxes from the manufacturers. But as I've said, I'm a craftsman. Before I die, I'll make my own. :)

If i was being buried in a harp-shaped coffin, i'm afraid they wouldn't find the right hole.
