I saw Dennis Gruenling, Doug Deming with the Jewel Tones at Chan's in Woonsocket Rhode Island this past Friday night, and just wanted to share some impressions.

First, I never saw Dennis in a live performance. This guy is a monster harp player. I don't know any other way to describe it. He was playing chro like it's noone's business and switching to diatonic effortlessly. He's got great tone and that 4 x 10 Harp King was filling the room.

Second, Doug Deming is a great guitar player and has a great voice. This team up between these two guys really works. I expect to see more great things from them.

They played a lot of swing blues songs. They played a low down dirty blues song with fabulous guitar solos and an impressive chro solo on the low end by Dennis.

The bass player was awesome. He was using a stand up. And the drummer laid down a steady beat.

The women felt compelled to get up and dance. Always a good sign that something is working well.

Very impressed with these guys. can't wait to see them again.

Doug and Dennis are playing at the Blue Monday Concert @ Mystic River Park in Mystic CT this Monday night, July 22 @ 6 PM, for free.
A bucket is passed between sets to benefit the local food pantry to fight hunger and to fund music education in the local public schools.
Dennis has been playing Blue Monday for the last several years and it is always a pleasure to see him play.
It would be great to see some of the MBH crowd there in attendance. Great music and a great cause.
