You might find someone on the Slidemeister site that could do the work for you. Don't think they would be interested in any diatonic trades though.

I can do them. I do them all the time. I try and do a reed swap if I have it, if not, tune it down using a jewelry buffing bit on a medium RPM rotary.
You can message me for details. You can't beat Gary Lehman but if he is unavailable or backed up, let me know. ---------- Greg Jones 16:23 Custom Harmonicas greg@1623customharmonicas.com 1623customharmonicas.com

Looks like Gary is now available and can do it for you. If he gets too busy though you could always try Steve Malerbi or Mike Easton. They both do great work on chromatics.

Gary this is Gonzalo !!! I new you are busy,I didn't want to bother you.
I have been addicted to the bebop tuning that you set me up with. I am really curious about doing bebop tuning along with half valving (like Brendan Powers set-up)
I'm curious to try it in some blues and bluegrass tunes : )

Fred There are a couple variations of Bebop tuning. a 260 is tuned in the style of commonly referred to as Richter. In a solo tuned chrom you just take hole 4 and 8 and drop them down a step on the blow side. This gives you a dominant (C7) chord on blow, eliminates the double note issue common on solo tuning, etc
The Bebop scale is merely adding a minor 7th to the 7 note scale making it an 8 note scale.
In answer to your question, I would take your 260 and retune 3 draw/slide in to Bb and and the 3 blow/slide in to A. That would give you a nice Bebop scale on the low end 1st pos. I love 260s, but for my purpose, a C# is pretty useless so I figure you can do whatever you want with the slide in notes... ---------- Greg Jones 16:23 Custom Harmonicas greg@1623customharmonicas.com 1623customharmonicas.com

Not all 260s are Richter--some are solo. Bebop scales add an eighth note to the seven note scale, sometimes the b7, but not always.

I've got a 260 solo in C. I though all of them were solo. I thought the Richter tuned were called something else other than a chromatic?

The first 260 chromatics were Richter tuned, like the modern Koch harp. Solo came later. All the contemporary 260s are solo tuned.

Hey G-my man.. (Gnarly).. that's great information.
Didn't know that. I really like the pre-War 260s and have a bunch of them. I like them better than the Koch because the combs don't have the dividers. ---------- Greg Jones 16:23 Custom Harmonicas greg@1623customharmonicas.com 1623customharmonicas.com

http://www.gardenstateharmonicaclub.org/reed0206.pdf This is a reprint of a letter from Stan Harper. There is a reference here to William Haussler, he seems to be the guy who developed solo tuning! Gnarly
