So, is the song played on a LowC or Low D and do you play it on a 10, 12 or Steve Baker model?
Thanks

None of them. The song is in the key of G and is played on a Hohner 364 which is in the key of C

I'd always heard it was an Hohner Echo Vamper.

The Hohner Echo Vamper and the Hohner 364 are the same harp. The Echo Vamper was the name given to the 364 in Europe back in the 1960's.

That makes sense. Of course, you could play it on any Low C, Richter-tuned harp.

Thanks Kingley but it sounds very low to be a standard C. The 364 says that the upper register is increased.

You could also play it on a Hohner 365. Which Sonny Boy quite often did as well. Sonny Boy recorded a few versions of that song, so it all depends which one you have as to which harp he's playing I guess. Personally I like playing it on an SBS too. If you want to do a Sonny Boy note for note version though you'll need the 364 or 365.

Here is a version in A. It's on a low harp but don't know the model.

@Hondo, the 364 in C/D starts on C3/D3 vs C4/D4 for a standard harp. The 364 in G starts on G3, the same as a standard harp.

Thus, the 364 in C/D are considered low harps where the 364 in G is basically a standard G with a couple of extra notes on the upper octave.

OK! I knew that it sounded lower and that I'm not completely crazy.
