Hello all. I have been playing the harp for about 4 years and have been playing gigs for less than one year, clean through the house PA & vocal mic up to now. I want to take the next step and get a decent rig. I was considering getting a tube amp, but have most recently been leaning toward running a modeling unit through a portable PA/monitor. I have been searching this forum & googling, and all of the information is like drinking from a waterhose and is a bit overwhelming given that I have very little experience with rigs at this point.
So, I'll put out what I am looking at and ask for opinions (I would say feedback, but that is what I am looking to avoid....). I currently have a Digitech GNX3000 modeler running through a Crate rack PA amplifier into a 2x12 cabinet with modeling speakers that I made myself. I happen to have an AKG perception 220 large-diaphragm true condenser microphone that I have been using to get an idea of how the Digitech would sound with the harp (I have not purchased anay of this for the harp - I had all of this for use with my guitar). With this "test" setup, I'm getting pretty bad feedback.
Nonetheless, I'd like to use the Digitech GNX3000 with the harp (through a more harp appropriate mic) and run it through a PA to use as a monitor and then line out from that to the house PA. I have a friend with alot of experience who speaks highly of the Behringer EUROLIVE B205D, although he is not a harp player. I'm also considering getting an ART MP tube preamp to use as an alternative to the GNX3000. The GNX3000 is nice because it has a pedal for volume (& wah-wah, as a side note) as well as 5 other foot switches. I'm not planning on using the crate amp or 2x12 cabinet.
Any opinions appreciated. Any recommended links for helping someone get the 1st step forward with amplifying harps also appreciated.
