Very carefully. ;)
Seriously though: I just use an alcohol solution and Q-Tips. Not much heavy gunk (skin, blood, etc.) seems to get on mine, since the harmonica's slide-assembly is so thick.

Just wipe them down with the covers off. There shouldn't be too much stuff on them. You can clean the mouthpiece assembly by putting about 1/2" of soapy water in a sauce pan and submerging the harp with the mouthpiece down. Then do the same thing with just water. This helps lube up the slide, too. If the reed plates are really bad, you might have to remove the wind savers. The Seydel wind savers are a little more resistant to being messed with, but much. If you start working around them, you will likely crease them and then they are done. ---------- Greg Jones 16:23 Custom Harmonicas greg@1623customharmonicas.com 1623customharmonicas.com

I remove the plates, and give them a bath in warm water--hot, but not too hot to touch. Boiling water will curl your valves. If the valves are dirty, replace them. Knock the water out, plink the reeds. Visual inspection, that might be it!
