I caught a segment of A Prairie Home Companion on the radio this weekend. I was impressed with the harmonica player sitting in with the band, Guys All Star Shoe Band. He went from polka to classical to ragtime/blues and made it all work, well.

I had to find out who it was so I looked it up and found it this morning, Howard Levy. No wonder I was impressed.

There are clips posted here if you are interested.

There was a story circulating some years ago about a guy playing guitar on a ferry. People were standing around listening and when the guy finished someone reamarked that he was pretty good, no Chet Atkins, but pretty good. Of course, turns out it was Chet Atkins! Urban myth?, I don't know, but your comment above reminded me of it.
