I thought it was an insult to a legend, i can see the funny side but it was korny IMHO. Only Little Walter sounds like Little Walter, we sound like us, so i believe our own style is the one to perfect.

Stan I think maybe you're misconstruing the point. Fritz was using humour to reinforce the point that you can't sound like Little Walter with the aid of some magic ingredient. To be that good takes a whole lot of hard work.
Many of the newer players probably won't know much about Fritz Hasenpusch. Fritz was a great guy and one of the great mic builders who have served the harp community over the years. His mics builds are superb and some are real works of art. I'm certain that people like Greg Heumann had/have a lot of respect for Fritz and his work. He really did have a wealth of knowledge to give to the world. Much of which he presented in his unique off the wall way.
Sadly Fritz died whilst rock climbing a while back. He is sadly missed in the harmonica world by many. The only consolation is that he died doing something he loved. Which is as good a way to go as any.

Yes, I knew Fritz. He was a really nice guy and made some beautiful mics. He was doing it long before I was. He is sorely missed. He had a highly developed sense of humor. ---------- *************************************************** /Greg

That is evidence of a highly developed sense of humor. He so thoroughly insulted so many people with that video that if you found yourself personally offended you might start to wonder if you were just overly sensitive.
I'm sorry I never had the opportunity to enjoy his company.

Now that was funny , couldn't stop laughing !
Can only imagine as a mic builder .. how many times someone who hasn't yet paid their dues .. putting in an order and asking .. " hey Fritz come on man, build my mic so I can sound like Little Walter" ...
Ya ... Instant Little Walter ... Miracle in a Bottle .. New Deal Used Cars ... just Come on down !
Ok so let's say you use "Fritz's Instant LW protein powder", to get Walter's harp tone ... or his " Instant LW's Ultra High Test Malt Liqueur" .. where "at you least you think you sound like LW .... and really what's more important ? " .......
Now what you gonna do for your vocal mic ?
Thanks to the OP for giving me my laugh for today !

Reed, Mick Taylor, and Jimmy Dawkins, as well as contemporary blues masters such as Rod Piazza & The Mighty Flyers, Rick Estrin/Little Charlie & The Nightcats, Kim Wilson, Rusty Zinn, Steve Guyger, Greg Piccolo, and Mark Hummel.
Dennis has written and published articles for Real Blues Magazine and American Harmonica Newsletter on legendary harmonica players, their history and techniques. No joke - I thought it was the magic "Fritz's Instant LW protein powder" that gave him the upper edge, guess it's not true after all, I am humbly embarrassed and so sorry if I got anyone's hopes up :(
PS..does he sell mics?

rpavich - don't know .. if so, my mistake,
New here so don't know Frank or how he ' talks ' online or who he's he's listening to .... though now that I look ... from the # of posts Franks made: Frank if I did misread you .. whoops..... with only a few written lines it can be hard to tell sometimes ...
I like a good joke & hope I got a good sense of humor ... which ... hopefully is conveyed in my 1st reply to this topic, the one I made before "@Frank" .... a pretty funny vid imo ... not necessarily the low budget infomercial .... though i like that too but the meat of the message thats only lightly veiled ....
Medium fast west coast boggie in E , in on the 5 goes something like this ..
You can be a legend in your own mind ... hey .. fans probably know the kind .. You buy some harps, buy a mic and a amp get onstage anytime .. trying to vamp your playing and singing really flops problem is you just can't buy those chops
(chorus) 2x
You got no ear and you can't hear .. he'll never know the truth
(solo's)
(1st verse and out)
Not in any way a writer , see what I mean ? when your holding the mic, or in this case a keyboard .. you got the power ... not directed at anyone .. just foolin with the subject ..
Fortunately the powers that be have given us some great masters .. many no longer with us .. many current guys at the helm ... and wether they be ... holding up the old , somewhere in the middle, or crossed over to the new ... they all dedicate their life to the music ...
Pretty sure none used Fritz's Miracle 'Instant LW" elixirs .... though I sure would like to get my hands on some ..

No problem, it all worked out in the end, at least I've discovered a new talent in Dennis - is that the same guy with the radio station?
