I'm having a diificult time removing reeds from old Hohner MS plates with the large size rivet heads. I have the old Farrell rivet knock out tool but I must have lost the die with the large sized hole for the MS sized rivets. I noticed that Seydel sells rivet removal pliers but do they have a large enough receiving hole for this kind of rivet. I need a solution, Thanks.

You can obtain a 3/8 bar of metal about 4 inches long. Drill a 3/32 hole in it. Use a pointed object and a hammer to pop the rivet out. Use a flat punch to flatten the rivet hole before you put in another reed.

There are two (2) current versions of the Seydel blue handle rivet tool. The later version has a slightly larger receiving hole. The larger is 1.5mm which I believe is still just barely too small for MS. However, the receiver hole can be made larger with a reamer bit or even a drill bit.

Thanks Arzajac and Greg for the tips. Both good ideas.
