Laney Cub 10

In a recent treahd about stage volume I was told that a 10w amp cant compete whit guitar player, and that I needed a more powerfull amp, 50w or more.

I dont have the money to buy a powerfull amp (where I live that kind of amps are way way to expensive), so saving to buy it is going to take me some time (somewhere betewn 1 and 2 years).

So, in the meanwhile I can still use my amp, but I was wondering if I can improve it to be more harpfriendly. I am no talking about tube swaps I got that covered, I am talking about the circuit. Speaker suggestions are welcome too.

This is the schematics:

So, what would you do to improove the tone on this litle amp?

Thxs!!!

Fender Tornado NEO first choice.

Do you have an option of playing directly through a PA? With a decent mic and a Harp Break pedal or one of those $30 preamps, I have two and can't remember the brand.
You can get a nice fat harp tone, and be as loud as you want.

The $$ you spend on upgrading the Laney will be as costly as a PA set up or possibly another amp?

I'm no amp tech, but know a little bout harp amp circuits. Correct me if I'm wrong!
The main problems in amps designed for guitar usually lie in the plate voltage and/or preamp voltage/bias
besides all the other issues like inputs, tone stack etc:

All that cost $$ to change.

Fortuneatly there's some great amp techs on this forum that can help you.

Look up Gerald Weber's harp amp secret's article, you read it and have your amp tech read it, there's enough detailed info in there to point your tech in the right direction.
I think you can find it at JT30 website.

@Harpaholic...Yes, I've been using a Harp Attack and Boss digital delay straight into a PA, and it works great. The only qualifier is that it's the band leader's PA, and he is harp friendly...at least friendly to me. No feedback problems, no amp to haul. Of course, you still "need" your own stuff at some point.

The Lone Wolf Harp Attack/ Harp break straight into the PA is a very good harp rig. It allows you to be heard easily over the rest of the band.

FM, I hear you man! We all want our own stuff.

Rog doesn't have the resources to go out and get an amp to cover all live situations.
To do that he would need a big amp.
I know that statement will start a big arguement, but there's a reason most pro harp players use them.

I'm just offering one of many options.

As Harpaholic says, the issue is that I cant pay a bigger amp right now.

I dont play on the PA because the Jam where I play is a street jam, so no PA, just the amps, so I cant mic my amp either.

I am more interested in geting a better tone out of this amp, and learn a litle of diferents ways to make a guitar amp better for harp, than in a increase of the overall volume (this time).

thxs to all of you!
