Hi Blues Stranglers-- I am playing with a quartet at the Zoo here in San Diego, every day but Monday. 4-7:30 pm--4 half hour shows on the hour, culminating in a hula hoop contest. It's supposed to be Australian music to celebrate "Koalafornia". So we do Waltzing Matilda, Tie Me Kangaroo Down, and some other Aussie chestnuts, as well as some variety. Don't ask me what one has to do with the other. I get to play harmonica, in addition to guitar and mandolin. Haven't used the rack once yet--boy, it's better that way! If you come see us, be sure to say hi!

And tonight, on day 6, someone nicked a harp from my case. Must've happened on a break, I'll have to be more careful from now on. The funny thing is, it was a power chromatic. So that means the tuning will be different than what they might expect. Oh Susanna does not fall out of this harmonica. A6 blow, B6 draw, SP20. I hardly ever use that Harp anyway. Usually go for an E major cross . . .

I doubt they will notice the tuning because they probably don't even play.
How is your gig going? What is the vib like at the zoo? I would expect a lot if international travelers this time of year.

We almost have our sound down . . . Everything is going well. This is a band that plays themes with costumes, and this theme is "Australian", with songs and jokes to match. I know the whole show and so am very relaxed. Trying to include harp as much as possible, I am the "lead player" and so can switch off between instruments a lot. As far as the vibe, I like the zoo--and it's a mile from my house! Update 6/30/13 Terminated this morning, so don't go to see me! Cookies crumble, long story--time to start all over again. Good thing I have that steady day job!
