Further to my other thread regarding a custom amp, I've purchased a Bogen HE 10. Tube Complement is 5y3, 6SJ7, 6SL7GT, 2x6v6. Skip Simmons mentions on another forum that this particular amp has pretty awesome potential as a harp amp.

I'm going to have to take it to a tech for the usual mods to the ins/outs, new power cord, check the caps, eliminate NFL, etc. I think I'll likely change the staged tone control to a potentiometer while I'm at it. I also suspect I will have to use a different preamp tube but I'm not familiar with octals. Is it an idea to use an adapter so that I can simply experiment with the 12a_7s that I am familiar with?

Any suggestions as to which I should go to and any other worthwhile mods that I should consider while it's on the bench?

Thank you so much for all your help. It's been very useful.

One of my favorite harp amps is similar: Newcomb Pathfinder E-10B. They are kind of hard to find. But be aware these little 50's 2x6V6 PA amps are not very loud or powerful. They make about 10 watts. Not really suitable for gigging.
