Howdy Harp Man,
I had good results replacing power tubes with Mullard EL 84's, #3 with a 12DW7 (this was big), #2 with 12AU7, and #1 with 12AY7. I've messed around with different numbers between #'s 1 and 2 but lower gain is the key there I think IMHO. and it is HO. Wait for the pros here before you spend any money. My swaps made a HUGE difference in the amp. Feedback is still and issue but less so, but then I'm using older CM mics. Good luck!
