Hello, I'm MartÃn and I'm from Chile. I've been reading the forum for months, but now I'm starting my first topic. I play on a blues rock band here, and recently I started playing as a session musician for a local singer/songwriter. It's not that I'm a great player, it's just that there are so few harp players here that competition is always low, so I'm always around playing.
Today I'm bringing to you a little demo I made combining some of my gear and some toys borrowed by friends.
Hohner Marine Band in A, with sealed and rounded comb. Miccas Special Mic: hand made microphone, Chilean manufactured. Behringer EQ700 EQ Pedal, used as a bass booster. Laney Cub 10 tube amp, using the High Input.
I hope you like it. Any comment or criticism will be welcome.
PS: Sorry if my english is not perfect. I'm still learning.
Hello #Martin welcome to the forum. Your english is just fine so don't worry about that. Good to see your gear and hear you play. It's good. Hope to see more of you in the future.
Always interesting to see and hear blues/harp guys from around the world. Your English is certainly better than my Chilean. I like the look of the mic. Thanks for the contribution.
#tookatooka thanks so much! #SuperBee I'm from the south, I live in a city called Temuco. Months ago I had a funny story about the name of my city. Billy Branch came to Chile, and I won a ticket for the concert in an online contest, so I traveled 500 miles to see the show. After the concert Mr. Branch was selling CDs and taking pictures with the fans, so I took my oldest Marine Band and I asked him to sign his autograph on it. When he saw me I said: "Mister Branch, I travelled 500 miles just to see you". He said "oh, really? where are you from? "from Temuco", I said. "Toluco? what is that? is it in Chile?". Finally I spent five minuted teaching him how to say "Temuco" and explaining him it was in the south of Chile. Once I "just crossed the ocean" and flight to Australia, when my sister was living there. That "little cross" took 21 hours on a plane hahahahaha... #FMWoodeye thanks for your comment. Actually, here we speak spanish, but I understand your point hahahaha :P
Heh, 21 hours...it's faster going back I think, usually. There's a good story, called 'the ship that never was' about some guys (escapees) who sailed from Macquarie Harbour to Chile. Took them a while too... ----------
Hi Martin. Thanks for sharing your video. My daughter recently spent a year at university in Santiago. We visited her there and went to Valparaiso too. Very cool! Come jamming in Sydney some time. Cheers, Eric.
