I am forwarding this information that I just recieved. I have been many times. I have judged a few times. I have competed and come in 5th place. I have competed and not placed at all, but it's always a nice experience with good fellowship with other harmonica players. There is no fee to enter. Just come and be part of the experience.

What's the format, Jim? Do you show up with a prepared instrumental piece, maybe mixed with some vocal, or do they throw something at you and you just have to handle it? Is blues the main thrust, or country/gospel/classical??

1) just show up and sign up 2) you have 5 minutes to play 2 songs 3) any type of music, except "classical" (their rules, not mine. I'm not even sure what classical is) 3) any style is allowed, but so far traditional seems to be the favorite. But in the end, the best player wins. 4) you may be accompanied by one other musician. All acoustic, no electronics. 5) no rules against singing, but so far, singing has not helped anyone, but having someone back you up on guitar does seem to help. (yet, the last 4 first place winners played solo, per my memory)

Bump
If things go as planned, I'll pick up David Payne and we both will be there.
