not sure if huey lewis gets the credit he richly deserves that is some fine playing.
the solo on the heart of rock and roll is perfect i wore that cd out,it must have been one of the first compact disk i ever bought.
after watching that clip, i remember a story rod told me, he went to one of huew's shows, i must of looked at him askew cause he laughed, told me miss honey went to high school with huew, and that that were old friends, now there is some trivia for you.
speaking of the mighty flyers they play 2 shows today starting at noon today, i can hardly wait,it has been way to long since i have seen them. ---------- tipjar

I showed my drumming mate a clip of Huey Lewis playing some full on 1st position stuff. I think it impressed him. We watched Jason ricci/Walter trout and William Clarke the same night but my buddy still talks about the Lewis clip, even though he doesn't even know who Huey Lewis is... ----------
Huey is a helluva performer. I used to be down on his harp playing a little because his solos in "Working for a Living," for example, were always the same, but I have heard enough of him since to respect his ability as a harp player. Add to that his singing and his athleticism in performing, and he puts on quite a show.
and I probably shouldn't have said 1st position, I don't actually remember what he was playing I just know he was playing a bunch of stuff on the high end. I have no idea how we came to be watching Huey Lewis, so I suspect it was a you tube suggestion... ----------
Well yeah, we'd finished jamming and the beer was cold... sorry I didn't mean to be misleading, my comment was more about how my drummer friend was impressed with Huey Lewis rather than Jason ricci or bill Clarke...anyway My recall is that it was a daylight stadium show, filmed in b&w. I found a few examples of Lewis doing his big harp number featuring some blow bend licks, but I didn't recognise them as the one which impressed Bicket. It was probably Jason who was playing the stuff we watched in 1st that night anyway.. ----------
I met Huey at a concert honoring James Cotton a few years back. He was gracious and exceptionally personable.
Later, when he took the stage with Cotton I was totally blown away by his harp style. He and Cotton traded riffs. They ripped it up together. Huey really impressed me, even against the other guests like James Montgomery, and Kim Wilson.
Awesome show. It's part of a documentary on Cotton being developed by the Reel Blues Fest outside of Boston. thereelbluesfest.org/archive.html
He demo's the new Dannecker Optima harp on a British talk show recently. Nice harp. Early in the News era he did a full on deep blues thing with harp in it titled- I think- "Bad Is Bad". ---------- http://www.reverbnation.com/jawboneandjolene
