took some pics before an after i adjusted the gap an did some minor embossing on this marine band. you can see out of the box its pretty bad.

I don't think it's entirely fair to use the word bad though...

It might be too high for an experienced player, but they are gapped high deliberately so that newbies don't kill them too quickly.

If they were setup out of the box the way you play em, the forum would be full of "I can't get a note out of holes 1-3" threads and Hohner would have thousands of 'faulty' returns to deal with.

I've done my own share of Hohner bashing over the years, but all the big names gap their harps high for the same reason.

Are those stock comb? If so what did you use to color them?

those are my combs.

I have raw comb available that have the tines cut out and then you can shape them however you want. I also have combs that are cut and drilled in a rough state so you can finish it yourself and I also offer fully finished combs made out of just about anything.

no actually they are stock combs. i sanded an painted them with food coloring then sealed them. it was an experiment that turned out really well.

Jon those harps look great!
I like the food colouring idea. Makes it very easy to colour code harp keys for gigs.

thanks. i thought of that cause its safe to put in your mouth as opposed to regular paint.

only one of them i played for awhile, then when i figured out it works i did the other two OOTB
