Hi Guys, I just opened a souncloud account and I want to record stuff onto my PC.
I have an Audix Fireball V mic and as this is a pretty clean mic, I thought it would do ok for vocals as long as i sing directly into the mic, so I wanted to know if I can get a lead that I can plug the mic jack into which will convert it to a USB so I can connect the mic to my PC?

#geordiebluesman. I used to plug the headphone/Aux Out output of my Roland MicroCube into the Line-in on my PC but my Line-In got buggered. Don't think it was anything that I was doing though. The only way I could then use my mic with my PC was through a USB Interface. I bought a Lexicon Alpha (Amazon) Frank (on here) suggested it, he uses one also. It has a Mic input on the back. It's OK there are no latency problems and it comes with Cubase 5 recording software which is okay once you get your head around using it. You may want to look on Amazon and read the reviews and see what you think?

The mic input is an XLR type. The output files from Cubase are Wav which are easy enough to convert to MP3. You can export to MP3 from Cubase for a limited time (30 days)then you need to buy their upgrade for £12.00 but there is free software you can get for that anyway.

Any questions just ask either Frank or myself. We have been around the block and could probably help

The XLR to USB cables I've seen on Amazon do not get very good reviews at all if you were thinking of just doing that.

Thanks Tooka, that all sounds like a pain in the arse so i might just get a condenser Mic and a pop screen I have been watching some on ebay and they seem to go for about £40.00 which is ok.

I new to relatively new to the harp but I have been using regular condenser and dynamic mics for voiceover work into my Macbook Pro using this nifty little preamp

Shure makes their own version too. Here's a link to an old shootout of usb preamps.

My next harp habit purchase will be either a Fireball V or an Ultimate58 to reduce the length of the mic on my desktop. A full length mic, separate volume control and a usb stick preamp is a bit of an ungainly contraption.
