What an unbelievable event!!!
Three days of intensive harmonica everything!
Classes every day from Jason Ricci, Michael Peloquin, R J Mischo, Winslow Yerxa, James Conway, and Richard Sleigh.
Getting a chance to play in front of a band, then get critique from the pros. - Priceless!
Hands on learning from Richard Sleigh how to customize harps - unbelievable!
While some of the classes were strengthening our understanding of many fundamentals from a very high level perspective, some of the s&@$ was just mind blowing! It was fun to be in a session with two pro players and have one turn to the other and exclaim "that is how you do that?!?"
Just being able to hang out with these guys was fun, but it was also fun to pull them aside and ask some questions and get feedback about something immediately - or just play with them for a bit.
The high level of players were more than happy to share, and we learned plenty from each other too ... Not to mention endless jamming.
I would be remiss in not mentioning Buzz Krantz who gave an entire flavor to the event - he is a wonderful guy. Also Paul Davies who taught his rhythm harp method to just about everyone.
I would also like to specially thank Deak Harp for his awesome performances and help to the event, but also for some intense private help that will fundamentally change my playing.
While there is volumes I can share, I'll just say that it was a highly intensive and beneficial event.
Jason, thanks for coming up with this and all the people you brought in to make it real!
Freaking meow!

I only got to go for one day, but I agree with Danny, it was great. A lot of very helpful and open information.
Danny got the crowd going with a fine version of "Got my Mojo Working"

Thanks for the positive feedback, guys!
We all enjoyed doing this immensely as well.
Jason and I are talking about when to do the next one. We're thinking in about six months - October-ish. We'll keep you posted. ---------- Winslow Harmonica Collective producer

We're also looking at getting more input from attendees and anyone who's interested in coming. While the event is for intermediate-to-advanced players, having more detail about what you're interested in and similar information will help us shape the event even better.
We'll be putting up a survey for those who attended the spring gathering of the Harmonica Collective, and another for prospective attendees. We'll let everyone know when those are ready. ---------- Winslow Yerxa Harmonica Collective producer

It was a fantastic event, and I endorse all that KingoOBad (Danny) said above. Wonderful sharing of info by presenters and attendees. Lots of jamming by attendees and the presenters.
When there was a glitch with a band that had been arranged the team put together a solution involving adding musical support from Deak Harp, R.J. Mischo, and Richard Sleigh that I think surpassed the original planned music.
Each of the presenters were extraordinary performers in addition to their sharing information. The were all approachable and giving in helping individually outside of the presentations.
A great experience, with lots of new ideas to work on incorporating into my playing. ----------

I can only echo what KofB(Danny) and Dougharp(Doug) have said. What a fantastic event!
Price of 4 days of intense teaching/interaction-$450.
Having RJ Mischo sing and Richard Sleigh play guitar while I blow harp-priceless!

Absolutely the most eye opening, educational musical experience imaginable. Everyone was genuinely nice and I learned something from everyone I spoke with. I was left shaking my head in wonder by the incredible playing of many of the attendees and instructors. It was just the kind of kick in the ass I needed!!

By the way, I want to thank everyone who donated product to the Saturday raffle.
The biggest donor by far was Tom Halchak of Blue Moon Harmonicas, who donated over $500 worth of custom built harmonicas, combs, and coverplates.
The Expert Guides also contributed their CDs, books, DVDs: Jason Ricci, Jim Conway, RJ Mischo, Richard Sleigh, Michael Peloquin, and Winslow Yerxa. (Some jester hats also found their way into the mix . . . .)
I also want to thank Lisa Sandoval Peloquin, who provided intelligent, cheerful, and efficient service through long hours at the registration desk. ---------- Winslow

It really was a well spent few days of intense harp instruction. I appreciated the diversity among the instructors--James Conway is a harmonica god with virtuosity beyond compare and a wide repertoire of styles; RJ Mischo is a terrific traditional Chicago player; Michael Peloquin brought the musical sensibility of a sax player to harp; Jason Ricci is....Jason Ricci and made earnest efforts to explain overblows and his use of effects pedals; Richard Sleigh pulled back the curtain to let you see what customizers actually do, graciously and patiently sharing every bit of wisdom he has; Winslow Yerxa shared chromatic and other wisdom. And then there was Buzz Krantz to keep things moving and Paul Davies to dazzle with his chording, tone and fluid melodic playing. They all did their best to explain their craft and were patient and supportive instructors. Of it all, though, I think I'll remember the people I met--great players, great people. Really a good vibe over the course of the whole event. And I won a harmonica in the raffle! Woo-hoo! Would definitely recommend you try to make the next one, if they repeat it.
