Popa Chubby - Universal Breakdown Blues new release....
He's a real force of nature and has improved over the years.
As a critical listener and schooled in music, etc, this is one artist that doesn't always make the best musical choices during his solos - plays classical quotes with wrong notes - and just keeps playing tons of notes.
However - through his sheer force of musical will, it works beautifully. Even though I sometimes cringe at what he plays, I still love him. Not too many artists can pull this off to my liking.
If you haven't seen him live or heard his music, this latest release is worth checking out.

Proud to say,I am one of the few harp players that actually got to play with Popa-he gave me props afterwards,and intoduced me to Jon Paris and The Holmes Brothers-the man has incedible energy,both on and off the stage-

I used to joke that he was every Jewish mother's nightmare....just because of his "look".

He HATES harp players-I had an in beacuse I was freinds with Mason Casey-Popa produced all of Mason's CD's.

Saw P.C. in a small lovely intimate club - seen live, is to become an instant fan of his, He can bring you to tears one moment then send you to the rafters and everywhere in between, an extremely emotionally charged personality who wears his emotions on his sleeve when performing - at least when I saw him. It is very strange to fall in love with such a big intimidating burly beast of a being. But he is a perfect example of "don't judge a book by its cover" :)
