Haven't gigged this amp yet, but already I'm rapt in this amp. Model Special 6 combo.
It looks like you have to really overdo things to get feedback through this thing, which is often the bane of harp players. It's even going to be big enough to use in smaller gig situations without micing up.
I have read on this site about mods, but I think I'll run it in first and see how I go leaving it stock.
I've spent so much time and money chasing the right compromise on size, output, tone, digital or valve etc. and this seems like the right thing straight off the shelf.
I still need to give it time to be sure, but so far, so good.
VHT, you can send me an endorsement cheque any time you like.

In it's stock configuration the VHT is a good little amp for harp. With the Jim Rossen mods it's an even better one. The line out feature that Jim recommends is very useful too.

Great small amp for the money.
I paid £90 ($130 ish ) for mine second hand but as new.
Like Libertad I swapped the stock speaker for a lil buddy, and it sounds even better.
@ Libertad.I have just purchased the alnicomagnet kit.How easy was it to install ? The instructions look straightforward enough but i,ve never tackled an amp mod before.Did you do a tube swap as well?

Hi Graham

It looked a little daunting at first but the instructions are excellent. If you have reasonable soldering skills it is fine. Get a good solder pump, some of the joints were a bit heavy handed so you need something to suck the excess away.

I was following a thread on the MBH forum where someone suggested the valve swap so I tried it. Changing the power valve to a JJ-Tesla 6V6GTS didn't make a huge difference, but I did notice a big improvement with the Preamp valve change. I changed the 12AX7 for a 5751, this along with a slight circuit modification to account for the different gain produced the biggest difference (it is all documented in the instructions). The bottom line is that out of the box the amp is good, with a bit of tinkering, it can be improved on.

Cheers
