I've just been looking at this guys stuff online, he claims to be able to teach anyone to sing "Better Than Anyone Else", that's a bold claim but the guy certainly can sing!. Does anyone have any experience of his course or teaching methods? Is it worth the cash or is it just hype?

In my opinion if you want to learn online, then there are lots of good vocal lessons on YouTube which are free and as long as you do your research to find the good ones (same with learning harmonica online) they can teach you what you need to know. Better still would be to find a good vocal coach in your area who could give you one on one lessons. Plenty of very good singers in Newcastle. Maybe even look around for a local gospel choir and see if they'll give you some pointers on good vocal/breathing techniques.

If he has two or more students, then clearly his claim is untrue. :)
There is some good free stuff online, as Kingley says. I started live one-on-one lessons this year. Can't beat it. My teacher focuses not only on breathing but posture, tongue tension, jaw movement, lips, how to sing with more punchiness, and physical/psychological "tricks" to hit hard to reach notes, relax the larynx etc. There is more to this singing business than I ever imagined and people already tell me I am singing better so get a live teacher if you can.

Online stuff plus some vocal coaching. Also I purchased the book 'Singing for Dummies' online from Amazon & I use it for reference plus it comes with a CD of exercises. I like the Dummies series of books as they are comprehensive for beginner to advanced but are easy to follow. I'm amazed at the similarities between harp playing and singing as many of the basic techniques are the same. Sorry I cannot comment on the Ken Tamplin Course. ---------- HARPOLDIEāS YOUTUBE

Ken Tamplin, the Christian rock singer? I know he can sing but I didn't realize he was a vocal coach. There are some interesting things about him on Wikipedia - he has 4-octave vocal range and he is cousin to former Van Halen frontman, Sammy Hagar.
