I spotted this on eBay today. I have no use for attenuators but I see quite a few inquiries about them here on the forum. Buy It Now price is only $39.95. Might be worth a try if you need something like this.

Interesting.
So, this device is a volume control betwen the amp and the speaker right?
You are right, is cheap, maybe I buy one, I would love to hear my amp sweet spot.

I built one like this for about $15. There are plans out there somewhere, search for "diy attenuator." It works well on my 15w PRRI, especially for recording. The caveat is that the L-pad that does the attenuation can't handle big power, so 10-15 watts is about the max. However, if you want one for a Champ or a Valve Jr, go for it! For bigger amps, you're talking about the THD or Weber, or sometimes you see the Tom Scholz attenuators on the 'Bay.

It's not an attenuator.
It's a volume pot in a box. An attenuator decreases the power to the amp, allowing valve break up at low volume, so it sounds like you've got the amp cranked up
