Hello fellow forum members. I am about to match a speaker cabinet with my Masco ma 17. I am leaning towards a 12in Eminence Cannabus Rex cab.have seen a few good reviews of this speaker. your thoughts on this speaker choice.

Coincidentally, that is the same speaker I have been using with my recently purchased Skip MA17. I think it rocks! Have gigged with it in a band situation 3 times so far. The cab is a deep one made by Weber, so it is almost a cube. This happens to be very handy for putting the MA17 on top -- I have a cheap bookend slipped under the handle and the amp sits securely on top of the cab with the cab tilted back, all four feet of the amp resting on the cab top.
Just FYI, my Shure 533 sounds best to me and 545 -- very open/full/rich. I'll also add: don't need no stinkin' pedals -- this thing sounds great just as is.

If you've been checking other threads, you know many folks will say this amp is too low-powered on its own for a "blues jam." I have to trust folks on that one -- not enough population here in Wyoming to populate a blues jam!

TetonJohn is certainly right about the Cannabis Rex. A great speaker for blues harp.

With my Masco ME-18 I used an inexpensive Epiphone Valve Jr cabinet. It had massive deep tone, really striking sound. The cab comes with an 12-inch Eminence Lady Luck speaker. It is 16 ohms, but your Masco has a speaker tap for that. You can get the cab for about $100 on eBay, and there are a couple listed there now.

I just wanted to add that, even though only 12" speakers have been mentioned in this thread, the MA17 can drive many other options including a 4x10. It is convenient that the MA17 has so many options regarding speaker ohms. I don't know how many amps you may have or have access to, but (if you have not done so already) you can give a listen to the amp through other combo amps' speakers before you commit. (Have an amp party, supply the beer!) You might prefer something other than a 12". I happen to find the single 12" very easy to deal with, and I think it sounds GREAT, but such things are subjective.
