Check m 201 tg It looks like great alternative to SM57.


Technical data shows noticeable proximity.


Also interested in M 69 TG and M 88 TG

Not sure of the models but Beyer Dynamic mic have been discussed. Perhaps a forum search might help you with this. Me, I prefer the Shure 58 overall.

Beyerdynamic is known for it's high quality headphones for record studios. Mics aren't nearly as good.

Forum search show that only ribbon mics (like Lee Oskar and Mickey Raphael use) discussed. I'm not interested in ribbon mics as they need much carefull use (it's easy to ruin them by dropping). But I see bunch of nice (including rather expensive) dynamic mics which can fit harmonica by characteristics (have proximity, m201tg also can be easily cupped). But none even tried them. Why?
