Hi all--Had a great time today, working all day at the Suzuki booth with live bands playing--Rod Piazza, Ronnie Shellist, and many local favorites, including Harmonica John Frazer, who I believe told me that this is the 15th year of this free outdoor festival. Sunny skies and temperatures in the 70's, children and dogs and picnic lunches, let's do it again next year! Anyone from this list attend?

I was there briefly. I managed to play the unknown players jam. I did not make the second round but I had fun.
I saw you in the Suzuki booth but I was dealing with my 2 bored teenagers who were there against their will and hounding me to get home.
I did make the seminar with Ronnie Shellist on Friday and learned a lot.

That breaks my heart and I know exactly where you're coming from.

Right, I was "the little one"--Daron is a big guy. One of my students, Sharon Smith, went to Ronnie's seminar, and said it was great. Boy, does he have great breath control.

Hey Gnarly...yes I was there! (Sorry, I’m a little late posting to this thread...but was traveling)
It was my second year attending...my wife and I actually helped Bud Willis (the promoter) and Harmonica John with the setup and tear down. Bud and his people that run the fest are really, really nice folk!!
And, I also attended Ronnie's workshop on Friday. He has a very warm, inviting personality…very approachable. I thought his workshop was excellent as well. Really informative. His teaching background certainly shows up in his approach. The workshop was from 1-5pm…and the time went by very quickly. I’d recommend it for anyone that can attend one. I can’t imagine how good it would be when Ronnie and Adam do their thing together. And, let’s not forget Harmonica John, who also helped in the workshop. He’s very knowledgeable in the music theory side.
I thought this year’s line-up was fantastic…There are some really, really talented harp players in the San Diego area. Love Billy Watson…his style is really fun! And Steve Bulger (Stevie B) from the 145th Street Blues is a KILLER player…not really recognized nationally but he’s unbelievable. In fact, he’s the guy that inspired me to pick up the harp. (Long story…not for this thread) Also, Dan “Dirty” Rice, from Kansas City was really good…plays and sings with a lot of energy. (Ok, full disclosure, Dan’s a friend of mine…but I still think he’s awesome)
And of course, you top off the afternoon with Rod Piazza…need I say more? Geeze…he is such an entertainer! When he got on stage…you could just fell the energy! Made the hair on the back of my neck stand up!
All in all, it was a wonderful weekend…and we can’t wait until next year’s harpfest!

He got them back, all fixed up . . . I just got a couple of chroms to bebop from the winner of the Unknown Player's contest, a young fellow named Gonzalo. He says the guy who was playing the wrong key harp in the contest was drunk, imagine that . . .
