Here's some very rare live Cotton from 1969. Horrible recording quality; not what you'd call the Big Tone. But pure Cotton nonetheless. Motoring on through. His bands were so damn hot.

James Cotton's band in the 1970/1980's was red hot, particularly the battery of Kenny Clark and Charles Calamese. I use to see them regularly at the Shaboo Inn in Willamantic, CT. Boogie, Boogie, Boogie!

Thanks, as that was a nice Sunday morning coffee tune.

No video, but a great version of this James Cotton tune from pretty much the same lineup recorded in 1976. I was lucky enough to see them twice in 1977 in small clubs in PA, and they were really tight, funky and entertaining as hell.

* Harmonica and Vocals – James Cotton
* Bass Guitar – Charles Calmese
* Drums – Ken Johnson
* Keyboards – Mike "Captain Z" Zaitchik
* Lead Guitar – Matt Murphy
* Saxophone – George T. Gregory

A couple of less frantic versions of Cotton doing "One More Mile":
