Just wanted to tell you guys about last night. I was out with the lads for an all day session and a Curry coz the wives were stalking the Osmonds! and we ended up in a little bar called the Low Lights right down on the banks of the River Tyne. This bar used to be a fearsome place, not to be entered unless you really wanted trouble so i had'nt been there for over 20yrs so imagine my suprise when on my mate Andies advice we walked in and found this great little Pub with 3 coal fires banked right up and pushing back the sub zero temperatures outside. The new manager had hung guitars on hooks so that anyone inclined can just lift one down and play,COOL!. I was well served by the time we got there and to my delight there was a young guy about 20 playing and singing, he was really great with a fantastic voice and a big group of lasses gathered round so in I went pulled out a Marine Band in C and got to jamming the whole place went nuts, we played for about half an hour and then I wondered off in a drunken haze with a smile on me face and Pats on the back, Class! I love that I can do this sort of stuff now it's a huge buzz to walk into a room and light it up then just disappear into the night.

hmm, I convinced myself to check out a spot because I heard the guitar player could play. I get there between sets and notice a there's a mic and a case with a a lot of harps. Good start. Set begins with margaritaville and then brown eyed girl. Harp player never did accomplish a single note or a clear chord, after he found a harp that sorta worked. OK, I may be tough to please but that was worthless.

There's an old building in Downtown Dallas where it is said that Robert Johnson recorded most of what we have remaining to listen to. It is said EC also cut some recordings there. Apparently the building has new ownership and to celebrate the acquisition, the new owner(s) decided to have a free blues concert, in the parking lot, yesterday afternoon. It was a cool, gray, overcast, occasionally sprinkling day so the turnout was low, but since the parking lot is across the street from the homeless shelter/soup kitchen, the crowd had plenty of character.
Consistent with the recordings of Robert Johnson, no harmonica.
