I have read the discussions and seeing videos here on bending with the tongue vs. throat. I have also taken FMwoodeyes advice and used the song "Sentimental Journey" as a bending exercise.

I have noticed an improvement in the tone and volume of my bent notes but I have also notice soreness in my throat after practicing for a while. Not the kind of soreness you get in your throat when you have the flu, but the kind of soreness you get in your arms when you do pushups. I suspect this is telling me that I am using muscles in the front of the throat that I have not been using.

I also notice that I can feel my diaphragm working when I concentrate in breathing correctly. After doing abdominal exercises such ad sit-ups, crunches and leg lifts to the point of making this area a little sore, I can really feel the motion in the diaphragm area when playing rhythmic cords.

It makes me wonder if anyone has developed a set of calisthenics for the harmonica player. Or if not, if someone should.

That remark just made my day worthwhile. Thanks Danny.
