It's a long shot, but I know you're a sharp crowd.

I've tried a dozen clever key words or phrases to try and locate the post via forum search, and I'm coming up empty.

I'm tying to remember the name of the musician or his band that I saw here a couple years ago - Youtube videos of his performance in a small club or music store, if I recall. The key lyric phrase was something about "I hope the lord finds/gets you before I do..." and at the time, he had a new album coming out. Suddenly, when I want to buy a cd or hear more, his name slips my memory. This could have been circa 2011, or maybe even '10.

Does it ring any bells? I've tried the forum search here, as well as independent google searches. Any leads are appreciated.

THAT'S IT! Johnny Sansone it is. I was racking my brain to try and remember more about the lyrics or the bad-assness of his style and songs. Your responses all nailed it. The song Bruce posted was the specific one I was thinking of, but I recall all of his work to be like that. Thanks!
