I have such mixed feeling about this video. I own a copy, and I love junior wells. I actually really value some of the messages jr gave me via the video, but it isn't easy to watch. the thing he says about not letting people piss in your pocket stays with me every day. ----------

I saw Junior and Buddy four times in the 70's, actually Junior missed his plane once so it was Buddy on his own that time. When they played the Rainbow Tavern my wife and I cornered Junior for 5 or 10 minutes, he told a couple of fun stories and was really sweet (mostly to my wife). The thing that is most memorable was his voice, recordings don't begin to convey the power in his voice live at that time. Then I saw him once with a pickup band, very intoxicated in the 90's. He got in to a row with some woman in the audience, it was sad and embarrassing. I regretted going. He obviously had his demons, but those 70's shows were really something special and seeing Buddy Guy and Junior Wells together was much more than a double treat. ----------
---------- I don't know everything, just some things, but mostly I just have opinions and beliefs, which many of us understand are just that.

Junior was the first person that really got me into playing harp; I heard a track on a blues compilation cassette and I just loved his style from the off! The vocal, his harp tone and those fantastic chokes and clicks in to the mic. I don't know much about his wellbeing in his closing years-probably not great as JD points out-but what I do know is that his final two cuts "Come on in this House" and "live at Buddy Guy's Legends" were sublime and I am still playing these regularly to this day.

'Come on in this house' is still one of my favourite tracks, and one of the first pieces I really started to play well on the harp. If only I could sing like that! ---------- Lucky Lester

Hey HollistonHarper, welcome back. I watched it. There is still a lot to learn from someone who plays that well, but can't explain how, really. ----------
