"I think Dennis sums up "cheek blocking" very well."

Yes I agree. In fact I'd say Dennis is probably the best in the business at utilising the full potential of "cheek blocking".

"Rick I want to hear Nic Clark thru that amp."

I gotta agree with you Rick, Nic will sound fantastic thru that amp as he would thru any amp or even my answering machine.

The better test, IMHO, would be at your blues jams. Let's hear it in the context it will be used at in a "the real world setting."

I appreciate you sharing your first test on this site, pretty cool.

Cheek Blocking

Nic seals the harp by pressing it against his cheek, blocking off the holes above those being played.

Bruce already has offers to buy the prototype amp as is. Lots of excitement about this little amp.

I e-mailed Bruce to ask him the new amp would be available. Here is his reply:

"Hi John.
I'm just now getting quotes back on the tweed cabinets.
Ordered my transformers based on the prototype.
I'm picking up another 50 Chicago 32-20 chassis next week and have the new
artwork ready for my chassis shop to get started.
That part should be simple, I'm using the basic chassis dimensions of a
late 50's Princeton 5F2A installed in a 1x10 Harvard type cabinet.
After that is powder coating and inking ....
So, I'm probably looking at around 4-6 weeks or so before I'll start build
them.
Thanks for asking!!

I bet he'll start taking deposits soon if you want to reserve your spot in the build.

Mission Chicago 32-20 on the right, the size of a 5E3 Fender Deluxe. The new amp is slightly taller.

What I want to know is, has anyone ever seen Rick Davis and Bruce Collins at the same time? Or is it an alter ego situation like Bruce Wayne and Batman?

Ha ha...no. They are quite definitely 2 different individuals.

timeistight- LOL. I'm 6 feet 7 inches tall and weigh about 250 lbs. Bruce is a foot shorter and weighs at least a hundred pounds less. Nobody has ever mistaken us for the same person.

Now, THAT made me laugh.

Kingley- I took down the the video clip because everybody hated my playing, when I only wanted the focus on the amp. I'll get something else up soon.

Why not name the amp after what you get if you piss Rick off (or if you've had a few too many adult beverages). = " The MC Hammer "

I put a 5751 pre-amp tube in today and I liked it a lot; a bit more liveliness. Still a work in progress.

Hello Folks,

I'm new to the forum, but certainly been on the planet awhile;-^) I have a background in electronics, from golden tube days on, and music, and play in a blues band. Dang you harp guys like to chase the tone! Relentlessly! Ok, guitar players do too, we just encourage some kinds of feedback and have the luxuruy of diming the preamps! I was follwing Bruce's Mission Chicago amp with intreast awhile ago. I am assumming this general topology is a SE amp with 2X 6V6 in parallel? I love the sound of even one! Two really seems to add mo mojo even in the Push Pull Fenders of 6L6 4x vinatge. I look forward to hearing some samples from this baby.
