Recently got a Skip Simmons Masco MA-17 (harp build). I know some of you guys have such an amp -- any favorite microphones? At the monent, I think my Shure 533 sounds best; fuller than my CR/CMs. I did gig with a 151 crystal that sounded great, but I'm now leaning toward the 533 for next gig. By the way, the amp ROCKS (but that's kinda old news).

Mostly a 60's JT30 w/ a good strong MC151 crystal element. What are you using for speakers John?

533sa is a killer stick mic one of the few sticks that would appease even the most bullet obsessed harp player.

JD, right now a single 12" because it's so easy (and does sound great! Cannabis Rex hemp cone) -- the cab is cube shaped, so I slide a basic metal bookend under the cab handle, and the amp fits on top against the bookend, and the 4 amp feet are each still resting on the top of the cab -- very stable even with the cab tilted back on my amp stand. I also have a 2-10 cab, but I didn't think it sounded any better than the single 12, and I have not needed any additional stage volume (so far!). I did also play it through the speakers of a 4x10 combo amp -- that sounded great. So, I'm still in experimenting mode -- but for now the single 12 sounds great, is inspiring and easy to gig.
Also, it sounds so good, I have not bothered with any pedals -- don't need no stinkin' pedals! (I could imagine using an LW Harp Octave if I misjudged a gig and had to play the Masco below it's sweet spot -- that sounded pretty good at home, but totally unnecessary when volume is up to sweet spot.) Having Fun!
