You can date them exactly like Marine Bands since they are the same - the only difference is the cover plates.
Look on the bottom reed plate. How many nails are there in between tines? If there are three, then it was made before things went downhill and you have a chance at restoring it with great results. If there are two, then chances are the harp will never be stellar, no matter what you do to restore it.

The MS version of the Blues Harp, along with the MS Pro Harp, MS Meisterklasse were first introduced in 1992 (BTW, there was an MS version of the Marine Band that was sold only in Europe that was introduced the very same year). The very first of the MS series were lousy from the key of C and down because until they retooled in 1995, these used short slot reeds. ---------- Sincerely, Barbeque Bob Maglinte Boston, MA http://www.barbequebob.com CD available at http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/bbmaglinte

Thanks for the info. It doesnt need restoring though it looks like its never been played. Given that I dont know how to date a marine band either, are there any other clues as to how to date it?
