I am replacing original nails with tap and screws of a 64 Chromonica. Can I tap all the receiving holes in ONE plate, and all the screws go, say, top to bottom?
Or is there a performance benefit for some UP and some DOWN?

Is this from one with a wood comb made prior to the mid 60's (easy way to tell is that the button on the slide is longer, there is no opening near the button to allow for a screw and the holes are numbered 1-16),or the plastic comb with a "faux" wood look to it and the holes are NOT numbered 1-16 from left to right, plus they are cross tuned rather than straight tuned like the 270).

As far as positioning screws up or down, there's no real advantage of doing some up or down.

HI Bob, and thanks.
It's a black plastic comb I'm replacing with the same from Hohner. Was assembled with nails, which were applied from both sides of the harp.
