Most of the stories I've heard about Richard's patches have been very positive and suggest using the Digitech device directly into the PA or some other clean amp source. I've been very happy with my Harp Commander Four [and the previous Commanders I've owned in the past]. So much so that I've not taken a tube amp out of the house for over a year. I've been using it with a Micropog and a Dano delay with the harp mod.
I just picked up an RP 255 for cheap on ebay and ordered the patches from Richard. Prior to ordering I didn't understand that he makes the patches both with and without the amp models. I'm a very happy user of the patches today! I'm using the RP255 in the effects loop of my HC4 and they sound great with it....better than I ever expected. They really work well with the tones that I can dial in with the HC4. Of course, the acid test is at the gig but first impressions are great!
Now all I have to do is figure out how to order the patches in the way that I want them so feel free to share your experience on that if you've figured it out!
BTW--Ron has a new Harp Commander Five coming out soon which promises to be a very sweet item.
All the best in your quest for tone!
Jay

You can change the order of the user patches in the X-edit software

Please keep posting your experiences because I'm exploring non-complicated ways to tonefully utilize the PA...It's just become too difficult to keep my Kinder amp on a stage the size of a pizza oven...Video/audio would really bring this alternative to life if you have any such examples... My best. dennis

With the X-Edit software it is quite easy to remove the amp models on any on Richards Patches if you feel it's necessary. Or you can just remove the Cabinet and leave the amp effect. One of my favorite patches is the "Champc" and I have saved several different versions of it (Champ1,2,3,4) with slight modifications so that I can choose just the sound I want for the situation.
