I never had thought about it much but at a gig last night I realized that although I usually practice with lee oscars at home and like the sound- when I play in a band context I almost always use SP20s or an SBS harp.
If I use the LOs with the band its the Aminor or Dminor harps and those are tones where I take a solo
.
The only thing i can think of is the Lee Oscar tuning sounds better to me in the vacuum of practice but the Hohners blend better with other instruments. Because this band has no bass player-I use the harp in kind of a tenor sax bottom context and the tongue block octaves on the Hohners sound richer
Anybody have the same experience? Or can explain it better
Interestingly when I tried out a new harp part before the gig to my guitar player -I played it to him on the LO but during the gig I grabbed an SP20

So subjective.

Remember, there is no definitive answer.

If you use SP or SBS on gig, than that's what you like (at this point in time).

I haven't done the research lately in the context of your question, but perhaps those harps are tuned in different temperaments, and/or different from the A tone being played in the band setting.
